Content Grades

I wish teachers would grade science and social studies reports using two separate grades. One grade should be given for the content, and another grade for the quality of the writing itself. Many English KS2 students that are poor writers are being graded down on their science and social studies reports because they struggle with writing mechanics.

Teachers need to evaluate science knowledge in a science class, not grammar and punctuation. While it is important to write well, a science or social studies report should be graded primarily on science and social studies concepts, not on grammar and sentence structure.

This situation is especially difficult for students with learning disabilities. By having a multiple grade rubric for assignments, children can still shine in content areas even if they are continually struggling with writing skills. They will also understand the importance to good writing skills.

Our New Boss

Conference venues. I have a completely different outlook on them now a days. I used to enjoy attending my business meetings, but since we got a new boss, it is a different story. There are no more afternoon drinks at the venue or upbeat conversations. It is all serious business talk where all of us must sit there and listen to our “new” boss chime in about how great he is and what he has done for this company. If it wasn’t for the money, I would have left the day he was hired. But for now, I will suck up the big talk and listen to him boast about his greatness. Someday I will be in his shoes and tides will turn. It will be my turn to make completely miserable like all his workers.

The weekend is here!

The weekend is here and it’s time to have some fun. On Saturday afternoon, the guys and me are going to watch our football team play at home followed by a few beers at our local. Then we plan to get a taxi into town and meet up with Sophie, Jane and Lisa, three London escorts that we have seen before. Henry VIII was supposedly responsible for some of the original design, and the castle originally consisted of a central keep with an outer wall and a lookout tower. It is from the walls of Southsea Castle that Henry VIII watched the sinking of his flagship the Mary Rose during a battle with the French in 1545.
